I’ve added a new feature – voting buttons at the bottom of the blog. At the moment they say “funny”, "interesting” and “cool”, although I may change this once I have a better idea.
Hi, Great blog and to know you are still exploring your new homeland. Your Spring is upon you, we in Worth experienced the first autumnal frost this morning. But in the bright sunlight the white countryside is quite striking if viewed from indoors or well wrapped in scarf and gloves. The summer has gone and 90% of the garden jobs are unfinished. Very few logs in the store. Whilst Ma was lunching with ladies yesterday, I waited in for the sweeep but he no show.
This week Ma is busily cooking for our Moroccan supper on Saturday which had been postponed due to flu. We have bought two tagines to cook lamb in a middle-eastern way.
Last Sunday was all about Remembrance which this year was even more poignant with much coverage of the recent wars. I went to the Sandwich gathering and laid a wreath on behalf of the RE Association along with 50 odd other service and civilian associations' representatives. As ever the Last Post signalled the heavens to open up and drench the crowd and parade.
Christmas is creeping towards us at a worrying rate. It will be a quiet time while we pack our cases for the trip southwards. Details to follow in the mail.
We're all watching the news about the trapped miners. Awful. Poor souls.
Hope all's well with all y'all.
S'quiet here. Might embark on baking 2 mini-Christmas cakes as gifts. It's getting colder here - cracked open the purple puffa jacket yesterday for the first time this year, to take the kids up to Fowlmead to cycle - it's rather exposed up there - a good view of the coastline, tho'. James got mired in the claggy coal/mud on the bmx ramps (ex-slag heaps) and we had to clump our way back to the car and hose down when we got home.
I have my last chance for marmalade making today as the school Christmas fare is on Friday and I'll have to tart up the jars to make them look like small objects of desire and priced accordingly ! Yes, it's all reassuringly expensive. Ha ! Am wondering if brandy marmalade would work ? I've some Metaxa that needs using up. Hmm. The Cointreau batch may have been an expensive mistake as I can't taste it at all. It's just double-orangey. Hmm.
Hey ho. Must crack on. Might even go for a run. Steady on !
All is well, we're looking forward to Christmas in the warm! Had a brief taster of that last weekend but this weekend the weather reverted to type, and we got the jackets and cardies out again.
Dancing is continuing, but at the moment all we're doing is practising what we've already learnt...watch this space for further news as it happens!
