Chocolate Ice Cream

So, I thought I’d make some chocolate ice cream. I looked up a few recipes on the internet, and eventually settle on one. Then I adapted it, because when I was making the custard, I thought it didn’t look dark enough brown...so instead of adding 150g of dark chocolate, I chucked the whole 250g bar in.

500 ml cream
250 ml milk
250 g chocolate
110 g caster sugar
4 egg yolks

Usual method to make the custard – heat the cream and milk gently, and add the chocolate, and stir until completely melted and almost boiling. Whisk the egg yolks together with the sugar (I now have a handy rotary whisk to do this with), and add a bit of the chocolate cream at a time, mixing as you go. Then return the whole lot to the saucepan and heat gently until it thickens (the proverbial “coats the back of a wooden spoon” test).

Tasted it tonight – it was yummy! Nicola didn’t like it though, so I’ll just have to eat it all myself.

  1. I am agog. Why didn't Nicola like it ? What's not to . . . . etc ?

  2. Ha! He thinks because it is on the internet, it is true - even when he wrote it himself and knows it isn't. It's delicious and no way is he getting to eat it all himself ;-)

  3. Oh I am mightily relieved.

Yes, perhaps we'd better tell Rory that not everything on t'interweb is true, even stuff he's written himself.

In fact, I'm wondering now if this ice cream exists at all. And how do we know that Rory is really in NZ ? He could be in a film studio on the moon, faking it all. Which makes you complicit .. . . oh, now it's getting complicated.

We're off to the land of Maltesers soon-ish on our eternal quest for a house to live in. Looking forward to a bit of sunshine, tho' it's merely spring-like there, but at least brighter than here.

Off out running now . . . puff puff.

    Lovely to comment with you.

Good luck with new dancing term.
