Advanced Beginners

We started a new term tonight at Supreme Dance http://www.supremedance.co.nz/#top and are now considered “advanced beginners”! Woohoo! I think this means that we know the basic steps of the four dances – waltz, foxtrot, rock’n’roll, and cha-cha-cha, and are supposedly able to execute these. Well, it’s coming along, and now that the weather’s getting a bit better, we may actually be able to practice outside on the only part of our flat that is actually amenable to dancing, the patio. We aim to astonish and amaze our neighbours, and the occasional passer-by, with our dancing chops. Repeat after me: side-tap, side-tap, rock rock.

Blogging Again

Following on from my “blog about blogging”, I thought I’d ask you, my readers, about how you use this blog. The questions that spring immediately to mind are:

  • Do you ever click on the weather icon on the right-hand side? Did you know that you can?
  • When I post a link (like the one to http://www.supremedance.co.nz/#top up above), do you click on it to see what it’s about?
Please leave me some comments in the comments!

  1. Gosh, i didn't know you could click on the weather. What big weather you have there.

And yes, I do often click on the links, tho' not every single time. But if I have time to re-read, I'll invariably do the decent thing and click.

    So now you know.

Are the results of this survey going to be treated as highly confidential ?
Or will I receive phone calls about debt/washing machines/'free' holidays?

Did you speak to yer brother today (yesterday ?) and wish him glad tidings ? As I was talking to him the postie arrived with a pressie from him to me - a fabulous designer take on Dr. Who's scarf and a birdie brooch. Good stuff all chosen by Elissa. I've sent Jason a book - The Fry Chronicles. The exchange rate at the moment sucks!

    Happy dancing.

  2. I do look at all your links, although I do not always look at all sections.
I am having some difficulty with making comments and getting them posted. I have written a few but the only one that was accepted was when I signed it "anonymous". I used my name last night, but again it got lost.
    What is URL?

  3. As far as I can see, all you do is put your name in the box that says "name/URL" but ignore the URL part. That's what I do and it seems to work. Are you then asked to type in a random squiggly looking word for security? Don't know if this may have anything to do with it?
And sorry Rory, I have so far failed to avail myself of your links but will endeavour to do so in future. I'm probably not getting the full blogging experience if I don't look at them am I? Anyway lots of love S xx

  5. URL is Uniform Resource Locator. In practical terms, this means the web address of any page, for example www.google.com is the URL for Google.

But anyway, as Sacha said, you should leave it blank, and just type your name in the name box. You don't need to be signed in or to join anything...comment is free! ;-)

  6. No and no. I tend to post more links than I follow. I tend to think they are optional, not a 'must click'. :)

  7. Oh, and could you uncheck the 'background scrolling along with the text'- thingy? you could use tiles instead. I did. It's a nuisance that scrolling down your text is so difficult.

  8. I'm not sure how to do that, Bel. When I'm reading, the background (blue/cloudy sky) is static. Are you saying that this moves?

  9. Is it a background you chose from the google designs? That would explain it (maybe).
Anyway, there is an option for teh back ground which says: scroll with site. If it is checked, could you try how it works if you un-check it?
Or vice versa. Scrolling is really slow, it's as if there was some resistance. Don't know how to describe it better. Yours is the only blog I've read where it happens.
